Distinguished Participation of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs and Member of the Green Education and Sustainability Research Society at the First Iraqi Medical Conference in the United Kingdom
In a significant step toward strengthening international academic relations and advancing the medical education system in Iraq, Professor Haider Abd Dhahad, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs and member of the Green Education and Sustainability Research Society, participated in the First Iraqi Medical Conference in the United Kingdom, held in London from June 14–15, 2025.
Professor Dhahad took part in a pivotal panel discussion titled:“Recruitment of Health Professionals to Iraq: Realistic Options”, alongside a distinguished group of experts and specialists. The session focused on practical solutions for attracting skilled Iraqi health professionals from abroad and explored the challenges and opportunities for developing Iraq’s healthcare sector through international academic and medical collaboration.
Additionally, Professor Haider Abd Dhahad delivered a prominent scientific lecture titled: “Medical Research Performance in Iraq: Statistics, Quality Indicators, Challenges, and Future Prospects”, in which he presented a comprehensive overview of the current state of medical research in Iraq. The lecture included accurate statistics on the number of medical universities and colleges, key quality indicators, and the efforts being made to advance medical research under the framework of the National Scientific Research Strategy.
The lecture was met with wide engagement from attendees and drew considerable interest from UK-based research and medical institutions, thanks to its forward-looking insights and clear roadmap for enhancing medical research performance in Iraq.
This participation reflects the Ministry of Higher Education’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Iraq’s presence in international forums and reaffirm its commitment to developing education and scientific research through global partnerships and the exchange of international expertise.
