Conference: National Initiative Projects for Energy and Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Mitigation

The American University of Baghdad hosted the conference titled: "National Initiative Projects for Energy and Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Mitigation", organized by the Ministry of Environment, with the participation of numerous relevant government entities and diplomatic missions.

During the conference, the Technical Deputy Minister of Environment praised the significant role played by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting the green transition, including its efforts to update curricula and integrate sustainability as a key component of the educational framework. He also commended the Climate Change Center at the American University of Baghdad for its major contribution in preparing and organizing the conference.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister acknowledged the efforts of the Green Education and Sustainable Research Society (GESRS), particularly referencing the seminar it organized on February 22 , 2025, on environmental management, emphasizing the Society's vital role in raising public awareness for a better environment.

The conference also highlighted the announcement of the University of Mosul as the first "Green University" through a grant provided by international organizations. The Green Universities Project is now set to be implemented in Baghdad University, Al-Mustansiriyah University, and other academic institutions.
