Green hydrogen in power plant development was the focus of a scientific workshop during Sustainable Development Week.

As part of Sustainable Development Week, the Green Education and Sustainability Research Association, in cooperation with the Training and Laboratories Center, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled:

“The Role of Hydrogen Enrichment with Iraqi Gas Fuel in Developing Gas Power Plants.” This workshop was held within the framework of supporting national initiatives towards clean energy and sustainable transition.

The workshop highlighted hydrogen energy as one of the most promising green energy sources, given its significant potential to reduce carbon emissions and decrease reliance on fossil fuels, as well as its role in improving the efficiency of conventional power generation systems.

The workshop addressed the possibility of integrating hydrogen with Iraqi gas fuel as an advanced technological option that contributes to increasing the efficiency and performance of gas power plants and supporting the development of the national energy sector in line with the requirements of environmental and economic sustainability.

The workshop aimed to enhance the scientific and research understanding of participants in the field of green energy, emphasize the importance of hydrogen as a sustainable source, highlight its role in improving the efficiency of power plants, and support national policies aimed at the gradual transition towards renewable energy sources. At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of encouraging applied scientific research in the field of hydrogen use in the energy sector, supporting projects to develop power generation plants with environmentally friendly technologies, as well as enhancing cooperation between universities, research institutions and energy stakeholders, and adopting clear national strategies that contribute to achieving the transition towards clean energy.
