The Green Education and Sustainability Research Association participated in the first scientific conference addressing poverty and unemployment in Iraq, held in Baghdad on May 6, 2026. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and overseen by His Excellency Dr. Khalid Battal Al-Najm, Minister of Planning; His Excellency Dr. Halo Al-Askari, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and His Excellency Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs (Head of the Supreme Council of Iraqi Scientific Societies).

The conference witnessed broad participation from the presidents of Iraqi public and private universities, along with a select group of academics, researchers, and specialists in economic and social fields. Participants discussed the most prominent challenges related to poverty and unemployment, and ways to address them through sustainable scientific and applied approaches.

The conference was held as part of national efforts to build an effective partnership between scientific institutions and government entities, thereby strengthening comprehensive development paths, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals, and achieving social justice.
