A workshop on building a discrimination-free learning environment was held as part of the Sustainability Week activities at the University of Technology from February 4-10, 2026.

The Green Education and Sustainability Research Association, in partnership with the Training and Laboratories Center, organized a workshop entitled “How to Build a Discrimination-Free Academic and Work Environment.”

The workshop, prepared and presented by Dr. Rand Mohammed Ali, a faculty member at the University of Technology, highlighted the concept of gender discrimination and its various forms, raising awareness of its negative impacts on the university environment. It also emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of mutual respect between genders and outlined the roles of students and faculty in preventing discrimination and building a safe and equitable learning environment.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the presenter emphasized a set of important recommendations, most notably:

• Adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination in all its forms.

• Integrating a culture of justice and gender equality into university education.

• Activating complaint channels with complete confidentiality.

• Strengthening the partnership between administration and students in combating gender discrimination.

This workshop is part of the association’s and the university’s efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals, consolidate the values ​​of justice and equality, and build a university environment based on respect and fairness.
